Airforce Buries Officials Who Died in Sunday's Helicopter Crash

The remains of the seven Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel who died on Sunday in an aircraft mishap have been buried at the National Military Cemetery in Abuja with full military honours.

The personnel involved in the unfortunate incident are; Flight Lieutenant Haruna Gadzama (Captain), Flight Lieutenant Henry Piyo (Co-Pilot), Flying Officer Michael Okpara (Airborne Tactical Observation System (ATOS) Specialist) and Warrant Officer Bassey Etim (ATOS Specialist).

Others are Olasunkanmi Olawunmi (ATOS Specialist), Sergeant Ugochukwu Oluka (ATOS Specialist) and Aircraftman Adewale Johnson (Onboard Technician).

The Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Oladayo Amao, family members of the fallen heroes and other dignitaries paid respect to the deceased officials,  laying wreaths in their honour.

Chief of the air staff, Oladayo Amao, who got emotional, broke down in tears several times while reading his speech at the ceremony.

He described the deceased officers as some of the finest in the service

The chief of the Air Staff however prayed to God console their families and for the repose of their souls.

Airforce Director of Public Relations and Information Air Vice Marshal Ibikunle Daramola also prayed for deceased officers.

In attendance at the ceremony was the  Governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, Women Affairs Minister, Dame Pauline Tallen, Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, Service chiefs, serving and retired top military officers as well as Chairmen of the Senate and House Committees on Air Force.
