Troops rescue six FUDMA students from kidnappers in Katsina

Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have rescued six female students of the Federal University, Dutsin-Ma, FUDMA, and a commercial driver abducted in Katsina State.

The victims were rescued on Monday evening along the Daye–Malumfashi road in Danmusa Local Government Area after troops responded to a distress call over an attack on a commercial vehicle travelling from Kaduna to Katsina.

The military said the troops arrived at the scene promptly, forcing the kidnappers to abandon the victims and flee. The six students and the driver were rescued unhurt.

The victims subsequently underwent preliminary security profiling and medical evaluation before being handed over to designated officials for reunification with their families and university authorities.

The military said the operation demonstrated the importance of prompt response to distress calls in tackling kidnapping and other criminal activities in the region.

“Operation FANSAN YAMMA is conducting ongoing security operations across the region aimed at protecting communities and rescuing victims of kidnapping and other criminal activities,” the statement added.
