The army said the troops continued the exploitation of a kidnappers’ hideout in Edimogbo Forest at about 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

It said the operation followed earlier raids and exploitation activities conducted on Nov. 2 and Nov. 3.

According to the source, the troops tracked the kidnappers from Edimogbo towards Obele Forest, where they made contact with the fleeing criminals.

“The kidnappers tried to flee upon sighting our troops, but with superior firepower, our troops successfully neutralised three of them,” the source said.

“Items recovered during the operation included four AK-47 rifles, 12 magazines and 336 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.

“The troops also recovered three bandoliers and an identity card, while 32 rounds of ammunition were expended during the operation,” it said.

The army said the troops continued to dominate the general area, adding that their morale and fighting efficiency remained high.
