President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Thursday, appointed Professor Segun Aina Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB.

The technologist and academic succeeds Professor Is-haq Oloyede following the expiration of his two-term tenure on July 31, 2026.

According to a statement by the State House, Abuja, Aina, who turns 40 in July, brings a blend of engineering expertise and public-sector experience to Nigeria’s national admissions agency.

He holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent and completed both an MSc in Internet Computing and Network Security and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing at Loughborough University in the U.K.

Aina is also an alumnus of the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
A professor of computer engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife, Aina’s relationship with JAMB dates to his National Youth Service, when he first worked with the board.

Over 15 years since graduation, he has advised federal and state governments on system design, digital transitions and institutional reforms aimed at improving examination integrity and administrative efficiency.
At 39 he became one of the country’s youngest professors in his field; his appointment will make him JAMB’s youngest registrar.
