Niger Delta Youth Leaders have declared support for the changes being made by the new Inspector General of Police, Olatunji Disu, particularly, the resolve by President Bola Tinubu to empower state governments to establish state police.
This is the security architecture is undergoing a radical overhaul, following the high-stakes removal of the former police Chief, Kayode Egbetokun.
The new Inspector General of Police Olatunji Disu is wasting no time. With the nation gripped by a wave of insecurity, as youth leaders are throwing their weight behind Disu’s aggressive new reforms .Just days into his tenure, IGP Tunji Disu has drawn a line in the sand as his first major move triggered the formation of an eight-member committee to kick start state policing
The response has been immediate as some Niger Delta youth leaders termed President Tinubu’s choice a decisive strike against the status quo. The honeymoon period for the new IGP will no doubt be short. For now, the streets are watching, and stakeholders are unified and for Nigerians living in the crosshairs of insecurity, results are the only thing that matters.
