The Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka has called for a declaration of state of emergency on security in Nigeria.

Professor Soyinka said this while speaking with newsmen after attending the 2019 edition of annual lecture in honour of the renown author, D.O Fagunwa in Akure, the Ondo state capital.

Professor Soyinka said the current porosity in the security situation in Nigeria especially in the south-west calls for great concern and must be tackled headlong without any delay.

He charged all concerned quarters to rise up and do the needful to ensure the people in Nigeria are safe and can go about their lawful businesses without the fear of being attacked by hoodlums who have perpetually taken over every zones in the country.
