The House of Representatives has summoned the security heads and the Minister of Finance to clarify disbursement of funds for security operations.

The invited security heads include the National Security Adviser, NSA, Nuhu Ribadu,; the Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa; and the Minister of Finance, Taiwo Oyedele.

The resolution followed a motion of urgent public importance, moved by the member, representing Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency, Zamfara State, Sulaiman Gumi, who raised concerns over persistent bandit attacks in his constituency and neighbouring communities.

Contributions from lawmakers during the debate showed that insecurity is a nationwide challenge requiring urgent and coordinated actions.

Several members called for greater investment in security technology, the establishment of state police, and a review of policies that could help curb criminal activities.

Lawmakers also demanded more transparency in the procurement process for military equipment and weapons.

Following deliberations and amendments to the motion, the House resolved to invite the service chiefs and the Minister of Finance to a closed-door session to provide details on the disbursement of funds and procurement processes of military hardware for security operations.
