The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has vowed to commence the prosecution of the former Governor of Imo State, Sen. Rochas Okorocha, upon the conclusion of its ongoing investigation.

The Zonal Head of EFCC Port Harcourt, Imam Usman, disclosed this in Port Harcourt during a mid-year briefing on the activities of the commission within the six months.

Usman disclosed that within the second quarter of the year, the commission recovered over N291 million and secured 16 convictions out of 22 prosecutions it commenced within the period under review.

Speaking on the 7.9 billion Naira recovered from the former Governor of the Imo state, Sen. Rochas Okorocha, Usman noted that the prosecution of Okorocha was brought from Enugu state, adding that several properties worth billions have been forfeited to the Federal Government.

The Port Harcourt zonal head warns members of the public to be wary of criminally minded people requesting for their personal bank details under the guise of offering them COVID-19 Palliatives.
