Operatives of the Anambra state operations department of the police attached to a VIP have demobilized a suspected member of the Proscribed Indigenous people of Biafra IPOB.

The operation that led to his being demobilized according to the police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga, occurred when they resisted the armed group operating in a grey-coloured Lexus car and a Toyota Highlander who attacked their convoy unprovoked. The swift response of a joint security team made the armed men abandon their vehicle and fled the scene with bullet wounds, leaving one of the gang member neutralized.

Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing members of the gang, as members of the public and residents of the area have also been called upon to assist the command with information. One pump action gun, five live cartridges and machetes, two SUV, s and other incriminating items were also recovered at the scene.
