The Rivers state police command says fireworks, crackers and knockouts use during the yuletide season will not be accepted. This was made known in a statement by the state police command spokesperson Grace Iringe-koko, who said the state command has made adequate security of both men and materials to ensure that there will be seamless yuletide, before during and after.

According to the police, the Rivers police commissioner Mustapha Mohammed has assured the people of the state that the command will leave no stone unturned, to ensure that there will not be any form of security breach.

He charged residents of the state to report all suspicious elements to the nearest police station, as round the clock patrol and surveillance is currently in place. Meanwhile, in neighboring Delta state, the police also reiterated the ban on fireworks during the yuletide, say defaulters would be arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
