A tiler has been arrested by the police following the death of a hotel worker after an alleged physical altercation at a hotel in the Utako District of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

The suspect, Samuel Net, was arrested after a disagreement with the hotel worker, identified as Joseph Terdoo, reportedly escalated into a fight in the early hours of Tuesday, October 20.

The FCT Police Command spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, saying officers from the Utako Divisional Police Headquarters responded to a distress call about suspicious noise and activity on the hotel’s third floor at about 5am.

According to the police, officers found Net, who had been hired by the hotel to carry out tiling work, with marks of violence on his body. Terdoo was also found unconscious on the floor of Room 301, with multiple marks of violence.

Terdoo was rushed to Wuse District Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed him dead on arrival.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the disagreement between the two men degenerated into a physical confrontation, during which Net allegedly pushed Terdoo. The hotel worker reportedly fell and hit his head against a wooden object before collapsing.

The police said investigations were ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The FCT Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Sanusi, urged residents to avoid violence and resolve disagreements peacefully.

He also encouraged residents to report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or contact the command through its emergency numbers, 08032003913 and 08061581938.
