Adeyemi was arraigned on Wednesday before Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja over allegations including forgery and impersonation.
He pleaded not guilty to all eight counts after the charges were read to him.
At the proceedings, the Attorney-General of the Federation took over the case earlier filed by the police against Adeyemi.
Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, who represented the AGF, informed the court that the Attorney-General had directed that the case be taken over.
“The honourable Attorney-General of the Federation has instructed the takeover of this charge.
“We are going to review the facts and the charge,” Oyedepo told the court.
He subsequently urged the court to allow the charge to be read to Adeyemi so that he could enter his plea.
Adeyemi’s lawyer, Genesis Eyibo, did not oppose the application.
Following the arraignment, the prosecution sought an accelerated hearing of the case and a trial date to enable it to present its witnesses.
The court, however, adjourned the matter until October 12 for the hearing of Adeyemi’s bail application.
The accelerated hearing is expected to enable the case to proceed without unnecessary delays.
