The Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) on Wednesday took over the case the police filed against Adeniyi Adeyemi, the Director-General (DG) of the alleged non-existent Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).
Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, told Justice Mohammed Umar shortly after the case was called for hearing.
“The honourable Attorney-General of the Federation has instructed the takeover of this charge.
“We are going to review the facts and the charge,” he said.
Oyedepo therefore prayed the court to allow the charge to be read to Adeyemi to take his plea.
The defendant’s lawyer, Genesis Eyibo, did not oppose the application.
After the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded not guilty to the eight counts.
The AGF then sought an accelerated hearing of the and a trial date to present their witnesses in court.
