A frontline 2027 presidential aspirant on the platform of the African Development Congress, ADC, Peter Obi, escaped assassination in Benin City, Edo State.
Obi was among the ADC leaders that were attacked by armed men at the residence of former Governor John Odigie-Oyegun in Benin City on Tuesday. They had departed the ADC State Secretariat for the residence of Odigie-Oyegun in Benin City, where the hoodlums struck.
The hoodlums were said to have fled the violent scene when operatives of the Department of Security Services, DSS, responded with superior fireworks. Some persons were said to be injured and were taken to the hospital for medicals.
ADC members narrated how the hoodlums stormed the residence of Oyegun, shooting in front of the house. Bullets were seen littered in front of the gate to the former governor's residence, including bullet hole on the gate.
Obi warned that this cannot continued, noting that they are citizen of Nigeria.
The car of the ADC State Youth Leader in Edo was damaged.
The police arrived the scene after the gunmen had escaped.
