Nigerians can now download their National Identification Number (NIN) slips free of charge through the National Identity Management Commission’s NINAuth mobile application, without visiting its offices or paying agents.
The commission said the service allows registered NIN holders to generate and save their official identification slips directly on their mobile phones after completing facial verification.
NIMC explained the process in a video shared on its official X account on Wednesday, urging Nigerians to take advantage of the free service.

To access the document, users are required to download the NINAuth application from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store, open it and select the “Do More with NINAuth” option.
They should then choose “NIN Slip” from the available services and complete the facial authentication process to confirm their identity.
Following successful verification, users can select the download option to generate and save their official NIN slips on their devices.
“Once verified, click on ‘Download NIN Slip’ to generate and save the official NIMC-issued NIN slip into your mobile phone,” the commission said.
Describing the service as convenient and secure, NIMC stressed that users would not be charged for accessing the document.
“It is that simple, it is free, available, and a few taps away. Get yours today,” it added.
The initiative is expected to reduce queues at NIMC enrolment centres and discourage Nigerians from relying on third-party agents to obtain the document.
NIMC launched the NINAuth platform in October 2025 to give Nigerians greater control over access to their personal information across government, banking, telecommunications and education services.
In June 2026, the commission announced that registered NIN holders could download their official slips through the application without payment.
Information on the NINAuth website states that the downloaded slip carries the same official status as the document issued by NIMC and can be presented at banks, government offices and other institutions requiring NIN verification.
The NIN is an 11-digit identification number issued to Nigerians and legal residents after enrolment. It links an individual's records to the National Identity Database and serves as a means of establishing and verifying identity.
