The Chairman/CEO, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has urged Nigerians living in France to remain calm, maintain peace, and respect French laws amid current concerns affecting their communities.

In a statement issued by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media, Public Relations and Protocols Unit of NiDCOM, the Commission called on Nigerians in France to exercise restraint, uphold public order and conduct themselves responsibly at all times.

Dabiri-Erewa urged Nigerians to avoid confrontation, violence and provocation, and to cooperate peacefully with lawful instructions from French authorities.

She also advised Nigerians to follow verified safety guidance, avoid spreading rumours and unverified information, particularly on social media, and respect their neighbours and other communities, regardless of nationality, religion or background.

The NiDCOM boss emphasised that Nigerians in the Diaspora are ambassadors of their country and have a shared responsibility to uphold Nigeria's image while respecting the laws and institutions of their host country.

She further encouraged anyone whose safety or rights may be at risk to seek appropriate legal assistance and contact relevant emergency or consular services.

She called on Nigerian community leaders, families, students, professionals and associations across France to spread the message of peace, unity and responsibility.

She also called on community leaders to work together and maintain calm, caution, and orderliness.
