The Nasarawa State Police Command has issued a public advisory regarding the upcoming North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Movement of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The political rally is scheduled for Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Lafia Square, Lafia, and will feature the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu. In light of this event, the police have urged all political parties in the state to reschedule any rallies or gatherings planned for the same date to ensure safety and order.
The police cite the need to maintain adequate security, prevent clashes between supporters of different parties, and thwart attempts by hoodlums to hijack the events. This measure will also facilitate smooth movement for the First Lady and other dignitaries, enabling security agencies to coordinate effectively and uphold public order.
While respecting the constitutional rights of political parties to assemble peacefully, the police emphasize that public safety is paramount. They have requested political stakeholders to cooperate by rescheduling their activities.
Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police, CP Shetima Jauro Muhammad, reaffirmed the commitment of the police to providing a level playing field for all parties and ensuring that political activities proceed peacefully and lawfully.
The command expressed appreciation for public understanding and cooperation, calling on residents to remain law-abiding and support ongoing efforts to preserve peace and security across the state.
