Gunmen have imposed N1 billion ransom for the release of 15 worshippers abducted during the invasion of the Christ Apostolic Church in Eda Oniyo, Ilejemeje Local Government Area, Ekiti State.

The gunmen killed one worshipper in the Tuesday evening attack.

The traditional ruler of the town, Eleda of Eda Oniyo, Oba Joseph Awolola, disclosed this while addressing journalists.

The monarch decried the absence of security personnel, alleging it took over an hour for operatives to respond after the attack.

The Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Brigadier General Ebenezer Ogundana, rtd, who visited the community for an on-the-spot assessment, assured residents that efforts are ongoing to rescue the abducted victims
