The Federal Government has announced a temporary reduction in petrol prices through the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), lasting for the next 30 days.
Taiwo Oyedele, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, made this known during a Thursday press conference in Abuja.
He clarified that the reduction is not a subsidy but a government initiative to sell fuel at its original cost.
He said, “We are offering a discount on petrol dispensed by NNPC Limited for the next 30 days in the first instance, with priority for public transporters nationwide. So, it’s not a subsidy; government is just saying we sell to you at cost.”
