The Edo State Police Command has recovered the second Toyota Highlander stolen during a robbery at the residence of the state chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kennedy Odion, in Benin City.
Operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit recovered the vehicle following credible intelligence.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Eno Ikoedem, said operatives tracked and recovered the vehicle off New Lagos Road in Benin City.
The recovery brings to two the number of vehicles recovered from the robbery at Odion’s residence off Winners Road.
In a separate development, the police arrested a 57-year-old man, Kadiri Edenokun, over the alleged defilement of his six-year-old stepdaughter.
The police said the suspect confessed to committing the offence multiple times and has been remanded in custody.
He will be charged to court after the completion of the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police in Edo State, CP Patrick Daaor, warned that the command would not tolerate sexual violence and urged parents and members of the public to remain vigilant.
Daaor also assured Odion and his family that the armed robbers who invaded their residence and allegedly took personal belongings and vehicles would be arrested and brought to face the full wrath of the law.
