Edo state governor-elect Monday Okpebholo has accused the outgoing governor Godwin Obaseki of doing everything possible to frustrate a peaceful transition of power come Tuesday the 12th of November, 2024.

The governor-elect in a statement on Sunday made available to newsmen by his media aide Godspower Inegbe, said the outgoing governor should tell Edo people if he has ever invited the governor-elect to the government house on a tour of facilities before issuing a statement on Friday, blaming the governor-elect for not involving the state government in the transition process.

He berated the outgoing governor for not congratulating the governor-elect since he won the September governorship election. He urged Edo people to disregard the utterances of governor Godwin Obaseki, saying the governor is doing everything possible to discredit the governor-elect.

Governor Obaseki according to the statement has not been seen in the government house less than seventy two hours before the transition to a new government.

He blamed the ruling People's Democratic party in the state for aiding the governor to frustrate every plan of the incoming governor and prevent a smooth transition of power.

It will be recalled that Governor Obaseki had on Friday in Abuja blamed the governor-elect and his team for not involving them in the transition plan which comes up on Tuesday.
