The Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson has promised to take over the payment of primary school teachers’ salaries in the state, in other to fulfill his electoral promises to the teachers.

The governor made the declaration while receiving the National leadership of the National Union of Teachers (NUT) who paid him a visit at the government house in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa state capital.

While speaking, the governor promised to dismiss teachers who leave their duty post while promising to take over their salaries.

On his part, the National President of the NUT, Michael Olutayo spoke on the governor's infrastructural development in education.

In attendance at the meeting were members of the state executive council as well as the leadership of the NUT.
