The Chief Judge of Bayelsa state Justice Kate Abiri has ordered judges in the state to put machinery in place to ensure speedy delivery of justice in de-congesting correctional centres during the lock-down.

She made the remarks during her visit to the Okaka correctional centre in Yenagoa the Bayelsa state capital where five inmates who have few months left were set free.

Fielding questions from newsmen after hearing the case of the freed inmates, the Bayelsa Chief Judge spoke on the discharged cases, while the Bayelsa correctional service comptroller spoke on the process involved.

More inmates are expected to be freed from the correctional centre in line with the social distancing campaign to tackle the coronavirus pandemic.
