Benue State Government has distributed essential items to some orphanage homes across the state as part of activities marking Nigeria's 64th Independence Anniversary.

The orphanage home visited were donated each of the following items such as Bags of rice, noodles, Biscuits soaps, sanitary pads, izal, detergents, tissues, a Cow and some cash to cater for the food need of the vulnerable children in especially on Independence day.

The Items were given by Governor Hyacinth Alia and coordinated by the Bureau for Internal Affairs and Special Services, office of the Governor.

The orphanage homes visited were NKST Orphanage home, Mkar, TIVID Orphanage Home International, Makurdi, Gidan Bege Makurdi, Children of Mary Orphanage, Otukpo, and Benue State Rehabilitation School, Apir.

The Special Advisor on Women Affairs, Hon. Scholastica Ben-sor, who distributed the items on behalf of the governor in Gboko, said the gesture was part of governor's resolve to provide hope for orphans and vulnerable children, and also intervene on their behalf so they can lead a promising future.

Further advised the children and their caregivers to continue to believe in God and keep hoping for a better and prosperous future, adding that Governor Alia will continue to provide financial and logistics assistance to meet their basic needs.
