Four personnel of Oyo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun, are currently battling for their lives at the hospital after they were attacked by hoodlums in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Friday.

The personnel and some policemen were attacked by hoodlums in Odeyale area of Ona Ara Local Government. They were said to have been attacked with axes and other dangerous weapons.

Four of the personnel later landed at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.

Confirming the incident, the Amotekun Commandant in the state, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd), in a statement said the personnel moved to the area following a distress call by Odeyale Community Landlord Association to help dislodge hoodlums perpetrating violence in the community.

He said the personnel were attacked with machetes and axes, adding that four of them with severe injuries were currently receiving treatment at the ICU of the UCH.

He said the corps has commenced investigations into the incident.

Though policemen were also attacked along with the Amotekun personnel, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, CSP Olugbenga Fadeyi, was unavailable for comment as at the time of this report.
