Digital storyteller and content creator Fisayo Fosudo has urged traditional media organisations to embrace social media formats such as short videos, reels, carousels and vlogs to attract younger audiences.
Fosudo made the call on Thursday during an interview with PUNCH Online at Moonshot 2026, organised by TechCabal at the National Theatre, Lagos.
He said established media organisations could combine their credibility and reputation with new media techniques to remain relevant to audiences increasingly consuming information on social media.
“Traditional media can leverage their brand, legacy and employ the methods of the new media,” he said.
Fosudo identified short-form videos, reels and carousels as tools that could help media organisations package their content in ways that appeal to younger people and audiences familiar with digital platforms.
He noted that technological advances had made content creation more accessible, with new tools lowering the barriers to entry and giving media organisations more opportunities to distribute their work.
The content creator also called for greater collaboration between traditional media practitioners and social media creators, saying both sides had lessons to learn from each other.
“As somebody that studied media innovation, working with traditional media and obviously new media, social media creators, I see that synergy there,” he said.
He added that the relationship should be built on mutual learning rather than the assumption that traditional media alone needed to adapt to the practices of digital creators.
Speaking about Moonshot, Fosudo described the conference as relevant to Nigeria’s technology sector and wider development, noting that discussions at the event extended to infrastructure, innovation and ideas for the country’s future.
The fourth edition of Moonshot, an annual pan-African technology conference organised by TechCabal, was held from October 28 to 29. It brought together technology companies, start-ups, entrepreneurs, investors and other industry stakeholders to discuss innovation and business development across Africa.
