Chief George, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), alongside five others were convicted and have since served their Two year jail term, but the six ex-convicts still believe justice was miscarried and prayed the court to declare them innocent of the crime they were convicted of.

When the matter came up for hearing on Thursday in Abuja, the six ex-convicts, through their respective lawyers, asked the Justice Tanko Mohammed-led 5-man penal of the supreme court justices to grant them extension of time within which to file and regularize their appeals, haven filed same out of time.

The court granted the applications and adjourned the matter to September 26, 2013 to allow parties time to file and  consolidate the six different appeals, as well as hear the appeal.
