The Delta State Government has approved the extension of the retirement age for skilled clinical health professionals in government hospitals from 60 to 65 years and length of service from 35 to 40 years, whichever comes first.
The approval, granted today by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, covers 26 cadres of skilled clinical health professionals actively engaged in clinical services in government hospitals across Delta State.
The policy aims to address manpower shortages, retain experienced medical personnel and strengthen healthcare delivery across Delta State.
Eligible officers are required to apply through their Chief Medical Directors six months before attaining 60 years of age or completing 35 years of service, subject to medical fitness screening by the Ministry of Health.
The policy applies to clinical health professionals serving in government hospitals and excludes those in ministries and extra-ministerial departments.
