Daudu (Benue), Oct. 16, 2026 (NAN) The Benue Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare has supported a breast cancer awareness campaign for women at the Daudu Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp.

The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Mrs Theresa Ikwue, urged the women to prioritise their health and share the knowledge gained with others to promote breast cancer awareness.

Ikwue, who was represented by the Head of the Out-of-School Children Unit, Department of Child Development, Mrs Ruth Ningi, commended the Benue Breast Cancer Support Initiative (BBCSI) for providing breast cancer education and humanitarian support to the displaced women.

The founder of BBCSI, Prof. Stevina Evuleacha-Ugbah, educated the women on breast self-awareness, warning signs of breast cancer and the need to seek prompt medical attention whenever unusual changes were noticed.

Ugbah stressed that early diagnosis and appropriate treatment could improve the chances of survival.

Representatives of the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and the camp coordinator, Mr Noel Oryiman Numbe, expressed appreciation for the initiative.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the outreach also featured the presentation of relief materials to the camp.
