Firefighters and other emergency responders have contained a gas fire at an outlet in Kubwa, Abuja, preventing the incident from escalating into a major explosion.
The fire broke out at about 6:30am on Sunday around Liberty Junction, triggering panic in the area as flames engulfed parts of the gas outlet.
The Federal Fire Service, FCT Command, said its firefighters and other emergency responders swiftly mobilised to the scene and contained the blaze.
Footage released by the command showed firefighters battling the fire at the facility, which was extensively burnt.
Vehicles and motorcycles around the gas outlet also appeared to have been affected by the fire.
The Federal Fire Service did not disclose the cause of the incident or provide details on the extent of damage.
It was also unclear whether anyone was injured or killed in the incident.
