Austria has declared four Russian diplomats accredited in Vienna “persona non grata,” the Austrian Foreign Ministry said on Friday.
The ministry said three of the diplomats, who were members of the Russian Embassy, had engaged in activities “incompatible with their diplomatic status.”
It said that the three diplomats had each been declared “persona non grata.”
The term “persona non grata” refers to a diplomatic designation used by a host country to reject a diplomat.
The fourth diplomat, attached to Russia’s delegation to the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), responsible for military security and arms control had also been declared “persona non grata.”
Meanwhile, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Dmitry Lubinsky said that Moscow’s response to the expulsions would “inevitably” follow.
