Issakaba: The Return, “a sequel to the 2001 action classic film Issakaba", is set to hit cinemas nationwide on November 13

Veteran filmmaker Lancelot Imasuen, who directed and produced the original cult classic, announced the release date in an Instagram post.

The filmmaker recently marked 25 years of the original movie and highlighted its enduring relevance, particularly the social issues explored in the production.

The sequel, which brings back veteran actor Sam Dede as Ebube, was filmed in Asaba, Delta, with Imasuen as its director.

Set 25 years after the original "Issakaba", the sequel brings back Ebube to combat a new and sophisticated wave of rising crime, darkness, and insecurity.

It features a mix of returning veterans and new stars.

The original production starred Sam Dede alongside Chiwetalu Agu, Pete Eneh, Amaechi Muonagor, Susan Obi and Mike Ogundu, among others.

The star-studded sequel features Alex Osifo, Charles Okafor, Chidi Mokeme, Iyabo Ojo, Regina Daniels, Nosa Rex, Mark Angel and Josephina Otabor, among others.

The original "Issakaba" was inspired by a true-life story of the Bakassi Boys, a vigilante group fighting against crimes in their community.

The film blended action, horror and traditional mysticism, following the Issakaba Boys, led by Ebube, as they confronted armed criminals terrorising their community.

It was built around the involvement of traditional rulers, local governments and communities in strengthening security at the grassroots.
