Entertainment entrepreneur and organiser of Headies Awards, Ayo Animashaun, has slammed Nigerian artistes who snub his show to submit their songs to foreign award show organisers for consideration.

Social media has been awash with news of artistes submitting songs to the Recording Academy in the United States for nomination in next year's Grammy Awards.

Reacting, Animashaun lamented that the same artistes will turn around and complain that they didn't get nominated by the same Headies Awards they are snubbing now.

He shared on Instagram, “Tom, Dick and Harry will submit entries to foreign award bodies that don't even care about them and proudly post about it. But these same people won't submit their entries to the Headies, yet they'll complain about not being nominated…”

Reacting, an X user, @UTDSeeeker, said, "Headies is a worthless award; deal with it! The same Headies that organisers gave winners handshakes instead of plaques. Go fix up and stop blaming artists for not taking the awards seriously."

@sabimarkets said, "You hosted a previous Headies edition in Atlanta USA, and had Anthony Anderson as the host before you postponed the one for this year, you wanted to do it in Canada and you’re claiming Nigerian Artists seek Western validation?"

@Joiyy44 said, "If not stewpidity, you're hosting Nigerian awards show in Atlanta and Toronto, but you're blaming the artistes who are also seeking western validation. Y'all are in the same bucket."
