Popular skit maker and actor Akinyoola Ayoola, better known as Kamo State, has explained why Nollywood actress Funke Akindele was absent from the premiere of his debut cinema film, Star Lomo.
Akindele’s absence from the Lagos premiere on Sunday, September 20, 2026, sparked speculation among some social media users, with some questioning whether the actress had fallen out with her protégé.
However, Kamo addressed the speculation on Monday, September 21, saying there was no disagreement between them.
In a statement shared on X, the actor said Akindele missed the premiere simply because she was outside the country.
He added that they had spoken about the event and that the actress remained committed to supporting the film.
Kamo urged the public not to speculate about their personal relationship, saying, “We’re on good terms.”
The speculation gained attention partly because of the close relationship the pair have publicly shared in recent years. Akindele has supported Kamo’s career, featured him in projects including Everybody Loves Jenifa, Aiyetoro Town and Behind The Scenes, and has also publicly supported several of his personal milestones.
Kamo’s clarification comes after Akindele was reportedly in Ghana with singer Waje, who features in her forthcoming film, The Four.
While her absence generated mixed reactions online, Kamo’s statement suggests that there is no confirmed fallout between the two.
For now, he wants the conversation to remain on Star Lomo and its cinema release rather than speculation about his relationship with Akindele.
