Veteran Nollywood actor Olu Jacobs has been laid to rest in Lagos following a funeral service attended by family members, colleagues and dignitaries.

Jacobs was buried at a private cemetery after his funeral Mass at This Present House, Freedom Way, Lekki Phase I, Lagos, on Friday.

His widow, actress Joke Silva, and their sons, Olusoji and Olugbenga Jacobs, attended the service as mourners gathered to bid farewell to the 84-year-old actor.

Jacobs’ casket, adorned with flowers, was placed in front of the church during the service.

Among the dignitaries at the funeral were Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and his wife, Oluremi; Lagos State First Lady Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu; former Ogun State Governor Ibikunle Amosun; and former Ekiti State First Lady Bisi Adeleye-Fayemi.

R&B singer Darey Art Alade performed his song “Pray For Me” during the service, with Silva and other mourners singing along.

Another highlight was the presentation of Jacobs’ biography by his son, Olugbenga.

The funeral followed a Night of Tributes held at Glover Memorial Hall, Marina, Lagos Island, on Wednesday, where members of the entertainment industry and other guests celebrated the actor’s life and career.

Jacobs, whose full name was Oludotun Baiyewun Jacobs, died on September 16, 2026, at the age of 84.

He was widely recognised for his contributions to Nigerian theatre, television and film, having built a career spanning several decades.

The funeral arrangements included a request for guests to wear shades of green, while the burial was conducted privately after the service.
