Afrobeats star D’Banj has thrown his weight behind the 2027 House of Representatives ambition of Osun politician Pelumi Olajengbesi, presenting him with three brand-new Sienna buses for his campaign.
The singer, whose real name is Dapo Oyebanjo, handed over the vehicles to Olajengbesi in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Thursday.
Olajengbesi, who is seeking to represent the Oriade-Obokun Federal Constituency, disclosed the gesture in a Facebook post on Friday, describing it as an unexpected show of support from the music star.
He said D’Banj had contacted him about two weeks earlier to request the details of the person handling his campaign branding.
According to Olajengbesi, he assumed the request was connected to D’Banj’s CREAM initiative, which supports young creatives, and provided the contact details.
He said he was later surprised when three fully branded Sienna buses were delivered to him.
Olajengbesi quoted D’Banj as saying, “It’s my token of support.”
The politician expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as a significant boost to his political journey.
D’Banj’s intervention comes after fellow music star Davido, David Adeleke, publicly endorsed Olajengbesi’s ambition.
Olajengbesi was the campaign spokesman for Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke during his re-election bid in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.
He is also the convener of the Imole Grassroots Mobilisation Network in Osun State.
The 40-year-old lawyer previously contested the Oriade/Obokun Federal Constituency seat in the 2019 election.
