The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) says its Apo–Karu 132-kilovolt (kV) transmission line tripped at 5:31 p.m. on Monday, resulting in a loss of power supply to the Karu substation.
TCN management disclosed this in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday.
The company said its engineers identified a cut jumper on the yellow phase at Tower T2 after physically inspecting the line.
According to the company, its maintenance crew is scheduled to carry out urgent repairs on Tuesday to restore the line to service.
”Consequently, Abuja Electricity Distribution Company has been unable to supply power to customers in Karu, Nyanya, Kugbo, Jikwoyi, Kurudu, Orozo, Karshi, Mararaba, and adjoining areas,”it said.
The company also apologised for any inconvenience the incident caused to affected electricity consumers.
