NNPC Limited has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s efforts to provide relief for Nigerians amid rising global crude oil prices driven by the Middle East conflict and its impact on domestic petrol prices.
The company acknowledges that increased petrol costs affect daily life, from commuting to business expenses, and emphasizes that the discount aims to offer direct relief to customers during these challenging times.
Following a statement by Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele on October 8, 2026, NNPC reiterated its dedication to collaborating with the government and stakeholders to mitigate the effects of escalating fuel prices on households and the economy.
Originally introduced on October 1, 2026, to mark Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, the discount will now be available until October 31, 2026, across all NNPC retail stations nationwide. NNPC clarified that this measure is a customer relief initiative and does not signify the reintroduction of petroleum subsidies.
This move aligns with the government’s responsible approach to providing practical relief during global market uncertainties. The discount applies only at NNPC retail outlets and does not set a uniform national pump price or alter the market-driven pricing framework.
NNPC reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring reliable product supply and working together with authorities to ease the burden on Nigerians. The company urges the public to understand that the discount is not a subsidy reintroduction.
NNPC assures continued focus on dependable supply and responsible customer service, aiming to support Nigerians while maintaining sustainable operations. Clear communication about the scope and duration of such initiatives remains a priority.
The company expressed gratitude for Nigerians’ ongoing patronage and support and committed to transparency regarding its products, pricing, and customer programs.
