It said the training was held in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) at the Government Girls Arabic Secondary School (GGASS), Gusau.
The statement noted that the programme would strengthen the digital skills of teachers and education management personnel in the state.
According to the statement, the participants comprise 50 teachers and 25 Education Management Information System (EMIS) personnel from Local Government Education Authorities (LGEAs).
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of ZSUBEB, Prof. Nasir Garba Anka, described the training as timely, considering the growing importance of technology in teaching and learning, education administration, data management, and reporting.
Anka said teachers and education administrators needed basic computer skills to perform their duties effectively in the digital age.
He explained that the hardware component of the training would cover identifying and explaining the functions of computer components, including the CPU, HDD/SSD, motherboard, ports, and peripheral devices, as well as basic computer maintenance and measures to prevent overheating.
The chairman urged the participants to be attentive, ask questions, and actively participate in the practical sessions.
He encouraged them to share the knowledge acquired with their colleagues in schools and LGEAs.
The Executive Secretary of UBEC, Dr. A’isha Garba, commended ZSUBEB for the initiative.
Garba, who was represented by the Zamfara UBEC Coordinator, Malam Tanimu Abdulkadir, noted that many desktop computers and laptops had been abandoned in offices and schools over the years due to minor technical glitches.
She stressed that the training would help address the challenge through hands-on sessions.
The UBEC ES expressed confidence that, by the end of the programme, participants would acquire the skills required to install, maintain and troubleshoot computers independently.
Meanwhile, the Director of Data, Digital Platform and Analytics, Malam Dalhatu Muhammad, urged the participants to be punctual, attentive and fully committed throughout the training.
Muhammad encouraged the participants to practise the skills acquired and support one another in applying the knowledge gained during the programme.
