Joseph Ayo Babalola University (JABU), Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun State, says its Medical Laboratory Science students have recorded a 100 per cent pass rate in professional examinations for three consecutive years, as the institution prepares to graduate 1,043 students on Friday.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof Olasebikan Fakolujo, disclosed this on Monday while unveiling activities for the university’s 17th convocation and 20th anniversary.

He said the university’s Nursing Science students also achieved a 100 per cent pass rate in the 2026 registered midwife professional examination, while its law graduates continued to perform well at the Nigerian Law School.

Fakolujo said 83 of the 1,043 graduands would receive first-class honours, while 429 would graduate with second-class upper degrees, 301 with second-class lower degrees, 74 with third-class degrees and 10 with pass degrees.

Of the total graduating students, 897 are undergraduate students, while 146 will receive postgraduate degrees and qualifications.

The postgraduate graduands include 22 PhD holders, 94 recipients of academic master’s degrees, 27 Master of Business Administration graduates and three postgraduate diploma holders.

The vice-chancellor said the university, which began operations in February 2007 with 246 students, had awarded 10,448 undergraduate degrees over its 20 years.

He gave a breakdown of the undergraduate degrees awarded since inception as 426 first-class honours, 3,730 second-class upper degrees, 4,928 second-class lower degrees, 1,336 third-class degrees and 28 pass degrees.

The institution has also awarded more than 800 postgraduate degrees and qualifications, he added.

Fakolujo said JABU graduates were making contributions in business, research, academia, public service, technology and finance, noting that professional examination results provided an important measure of students’ preparedness beyond the university.
