Nestlé Nigeria will give consumers an additional 50 grammes of Golden Morn cereal free on every 900-gramme pack purchased from November.

The promotion, announced on Tuesday, forms part of activities marking the brand’s 40th anniversary and appreciation of loyal Nigerian consumers.

Mr Omofasa Orhiunu, Category Manager, Dairy and Golden Morn at Nestlé Nigeria, disclosed this during the anniversary celebration at the company’s Agbara Factory in Ogun.

“To celebrate our consumers who have been loyal to Golden Morn for over 40 years, we will be rolling out a promotion in November.

“For every 900-gramme pack of Golden Morn our consumers buy, they get 50 grammes extra free.

“That is an extra bowl of Golden Morn to nourish our wonderful families in Nigeria,” he said.

Orhiunu described Golden Morn as a Nigerian brand developed and manufactured locally over the past four decades.

He said the company would sustain its commitment to consumers through product innovation and the introduction of new variants.

“We will continue to nourish Nigerians, come up with new variants which will excite Nigerians and introduce new things that will make the breakfast table a lot more interesting,” he said.

The anniversary celebration also featured the unveiling of a special 40th anniversary pack to commemorate the brand’s four decades in the Nigerian market.

Earlier, Mr Talla Fall, Agbara Factory Manager, said Golden Morn had evolved since its introduction in 1986, incorporating nutritional improvements and packaging innovations.

These include high-protein recipes, affordable soft packaging, iron and Vitamin A fortification, and the introduction of Grainsmart.

Fall said the cereal was produced entirely in Nigeria using locally sourced agricultural materials, particularly maize and soybeans.

“Golden Morn is made with the goodness of maize and soybeans, grown by Nigerian farmers and created in Nigeria by Nigerians,” he said.

He acknowledged the contributions of farmers and factory workers to the brand’s production and continued presence in Nigerian households.

“Behind every pack are the farmers who grow the grains and the men and women in the factory who turn them into the nourishment that families trust,” he said.

Fall reaffirmed the company’s commitment to product quality, food safety and operational standards, describing employees as central to the brand’s success.

Meanwhile, Abosede Olusolape, a nutritionist and Nestlé Nigeria brand ambassador, urged Nigerians to adopt balanced breakfast habits to improve their overall well-being.

She said breakfast should provide essential nutrients, including carbohydrates, protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals, to support bodily functions.

Olusolape identified busy schedules, poor meal planning and reduced morning appetite as common barriers to nutritious breakfast consumption.

“Plan ahead, add variety and make it realistic,” she advised.

She cautioned against relying exclusively on carbohydrate-based meals, stressing the importance of incorporating different food groups.

The nutritionist explained that whole grains provide dietary fibre for digestion, while protein makes meals more satisfying.

She urged families to prioritise the nutritional quality of meals rather than focusing solely on satisfying hunger.
