BUA Foods Plc has recorded an 11 per cent increase in profit after tax to N450.47 billion for the nine months ended Sept. 30.

The company disclosed this in its unaudited financial results released on Friday.

The profit after tax rose from N405.27 billion recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.

The company’s profit before tax also increased by 11 per cent to N480.52 billion, from the N433.65 billion reported in the same period of 2025.

Its gross profit rose to N552.90 billion from N520.65 billion, while gross profit margin expanded to 48.3 per cent from 36.7 per cent.

The company attributed the improved profitability to improved cost efficiency and disciplined cost management.

Cost of sales declined by 34 per cent to N592.94 billion, reflecting lower topline costs and a more stable foreign exchange environment.

Total operating expenses also decreased by 20 per cent to N66.99 billion, compared with N83.65 billion in the corresponding period of 2025.

Selling and distribution expenses fell by 15 per cent to N45.04 billion, while administrative expenses declined by 28 per cent to N21.95 billion.

The improvements supported a 12-percentage-point expansion in operating profit margin to 43 per cent, from 31 per cent.

Earnings per share increased by 11 per cent to N25.03, compared with N22.52 recorded in the corresponding period of 2025.

However, revenue declined by 19 per cent to N1.15 trillion, from the previous year’s level, amid softer pricing conditions and subdued consumer demand.

Commenting on the results, Managing Director of BUA Foods, Mr Ayodele Abioye, said, “Our nine-month 2026 results demonstrate the resilience of BUA Foods’ operating model and the benefits of disciplined cost and margin management.

“In spite of a 19 per cent decline in revenue to N1.15 trillion, driven by softer pricing conditions and subdued consumer demand, we maintained a substantial improvement in profitability through effective cost optimisation, improved productivity and rigorous execution across the business.

“The sustained strength of our brands and our continued investment in route-to-market capabilities provide a solid foundation for future growth.

“Looking ahead, we remain focused on driving profitable growth, enhancing market penetration and maintaining operational efficiency.

“While the operating environment remains dynamic, BUA Foods is well-positioned to leverage its scale, strong market positions and execution capabilities to deliver sustainable long-term value.”
