The Oyo State Government has said Governor Seyi Makinde did not reject the establishment of army divisions in the state.

This was after an X user, @Ade_Nurayn, accused the governor of rejecting establishment of military divisions and battalions.

According to the X user, the rejection makes Makinde "childish and shallow. Same... rejected LG autonomy and initially rejected the creation of state police."

Reacting, the state government said none of the allegations raised by the X user is true.

"On the issue of setting up army divisions, H.E. Seyi Makinde said he did not see a line item in the 2026 federal budget for it.

"LG Councils in Oyo State continue to function in their various areas. Our last update on projects executed by LG Councils in Oyo State is still up. See here: https://feedbackoysg.com/local-government-project-as-of-8-december-2025/

"Lastly, H.E. Seyi Makinde has never been against the creation of State police. He championed the creation of Amotekun and has continued to support security agencies at all levels in Oyo State.

"We encourage you to fact-check issues before posting misinformation online," the government said.
