The Lagos Free Zone has called for stronger investment partnerships between Nigerian, Belgian and Luxembourg businesses to boost local manufacturing, agro-processing and industrial development.

The Managing Director of Lagos Free Zone, Adesuwa Ladoja, made the call during her keynote address at the Nigeria–Belgium–Luxembourg Business Forum, held in Brussels from October 28 to 30, 2026.

Ladoja highlighted the complementary strengths of the three countries, noting that Nigeria's natural resources, workforce and market potential, combined with Belgium's manufacturing expertise and trade connections and Luxembourg's industrial and financial capabilities, could create opportunities for mutually beneficial investments.

She said stronger cross-border partnerships would help Nigeria expand local production, process more of its agricultural resources, manufacture goods for domestic consumption and develop industries capable of competing in international markets.

“Nigeria, Belgium and Luxembourg bring complementary strengths to this partnership. By combining Nigeria’s resources and market potential with European manufacturing expertise, industrial know-how and financial capabilities, we can build partnerships that deliver lasting economic value for businesses and communities across our countries,” she said.

Ladoja explained that the Lagos Free Zone provides a platform for turning these investment opportunities into tangible industrial projects through serviced industrial land, ready-built facilities, utilities and investor support.

She added that its integration with the Lekki Deep Sea Port gives businesses access to international trade routes, while its support services help investors navigate regulatory requirements involved in establishing and expanding operations in Nigeria.

“We want to see partnerships translate into manufacturing facilities, products made in Nigeria, skills developed and jobs created. We invite businesses to take the next step by exploring concrete investment opportunities with us at Lagos Free Zone,” she said.

The Lagos Free Zone, promoted by Tolaram, is Nigeria's first privately owned special economic zone. It is designed to support manufacturing, logistics and other industrial activities through integrated infrastructure and port connectivity.

The zone is already home to several international manufacturing companies, including Kellogg's, Dano Milk, Colgate, BASF, ADM and Tata International.

In January 2025, the International Finance Corporation announced an equity investment of up to $50 million in the Lagos Free Zone to support infrastructure development, industrial expansion and economic diversification.

The investment was expected to help address infrastructure gaps and attract more local and international businesses to the zone.

Through its latest engagement with Belgian and Luxembourg businesses, Lagos Free Zone is seeking to attract further foreign investment that can strengthen Nigeria's manufacturing capacity, create employment and increase the value generated from locally available resources.
