The Federal Government says it is working out a stimulus package that will take the country’s economy out of global recession.

This is part of the plan being developed by the Economic Sustainability Committee set up by President Muhammadu Buhari to address the economic fall out of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed told reporters after today's committee meeting that government is working to ensure positive growth in 2021 amidst the current global challenge caused by the pandemic

The plan is coming after IMF predictions of a three-point four per cent economic decline next year based on the assessment of the National Bureau of Statistics.

The minister, however, said the report of the stimulus package will be finalised in a few days and submitted to President Buhari for approval.

The meeting, chaired by vice president Yemi Osinabajo, is the third since the committee was inaugurated two weeks ago.
