Buhari Approves N5billion Bailout for Aviation Sector

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved N5billion bailout for Nigeria’s Aviation Sector.

Government’s intervention is by way of providing N4billion for the airlines and one billion for other related businesses in the country’s aviation industry.

Galaxy’s Godfrey Eshiemoghie reports that Aviation Minister, Hadi Sirika, disclosed this Monday at a public hearing organized by the Senate Committee on Aviation for the consideration of six Bills as part of moves to amend existing civil aviation laws.

The six Bills which the Senate Committee on Aviation seeks to consider and amend include those establishing the Nigeria Meteorological Agency [NIMET], the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria [FAAN], the College of Aviation Technology, among others.

In his speech, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation, Senator Smart Adeyemi, said the bailout for the airlines is welcomed in view of the crucial role of the aviation sector in the economy.
