Family of deceased Ekiti doctor receive death threats, alert police IG

The family of late Dr. Tunde Aladesanmi, one of the medical doctors who lost their lives in a ghastly motor accident along Kaduna road while on a national assignment has alerted the Inspector-General of the police, Ekiti State Commisisoner of Police, the Ekiti state government, the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), the public including the international community of an iminent death/ assasination threath to the family of the deceased.

According to a statement released by the family, a letter was sent to the family by an unknown persons threatening assasination attempt and giving the family a one-day ultimatum to pack their loads and leave the house.

''It is pertinent to note that while the deceased was alive, he had a cordial realtionship with everyone. Quite a lot of people including his co-workers and professional colleaques can attest to the fact he lived a selfless life, served humanity devotedly; did everything within his power and according to the ethics of his profession to save a lot of lives even at odd times.'' the statement reads.

They consider it highly bizarre and unexpected that the family of such a gentle and peace-loving man would be receiving such threat.

''We are concerned about the safety of the family of the deseased and we want to remind the Federal Government, Ekiti State government as well as other other relevant security agencies of their obligations to protect the Nigerian citizens.''

The family of the deceased however, called on the Inspector-General of the police, Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State government and other relevant security agencies to intervene, ensure that thorough and impartial investigations are carried on the death threat without fear of reprisal attack.
