Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has assured to prosecute the immigration officers that assaulted two officers of the State Road Traffic Management Authority(OYRTMA), last week Friday.

 

Makinde said this on Monday while visiting the residence of the affected officers at Oke'badan and Binukonu areas in Ibadan.

 

The incident occurred on Friday when the officers apprehended an official of the Immigration Services in Ibadan over traffic rules violation, while GalaxyTV news correspondent segun Falomo was also threatened to be shot when he made efforts to make enquires on what happened. 

 

It was reported that in the course of taking the traffic offender to OYRTMA office, the immigration personnel change the direction his car to Zone F, Immigration Service office on Sawmill - Agodi Gate Road.

 

 The OYRTMA officers were arrested stripped naked and detained by the Zone F Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service.

Visiting the OYRTMA officers, Nurudeen Abiola and Taiwo Adeagbo, at their respective residences, Makinde said the incident was unacceptable, saying the officers were just trying to enforce the law of the state.

 

The governor said he has directed the State Attorney General, to follow this through and prosecute people involved.
