The Udinese goalkeeper was the final member of Nigeria’s 24-man squad to report to camp, joining the team after missing its first two training sessions.
The Super Eagles confirmed Okoye’s arrival on Friday as coach Éric Chelle completed his goalkeeping options, with Stanley Nwabali and Arthur Okonkwo also available for the encounter.
Okoye’s delayed arrival had generated criticism after he was seen at Milan Fashion Week, where he represented Udinese and modelled the Italian club’s third kit. He was also pictured with American rapper Cardi B during the event.
Chelle had earlier explained that Udinese requested Okoye’s continued presence in Italy for club activities before he travelled to join the national team.
His arrival means Chelle now has all three goalkeepers in camp as Nigeria begins its bid for qualification for the 2027 AFCON tournament.
Nigeria will take on Madagascar at 5 pm on Friday at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo in their opening Group L fixture.
