Reps Investigates Involvement Of NILDS D.G. In Partisan Politics
The House of Representatives has ordered an investigation into alleged involvement of the Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, Professor Abubakar Sulaiman, in partisan politics while in office.
The resolution followed a motion sponsored by Salisu Yusuf, who alleged that Sulaiman took part in the APC governorship primaries in Kwara State without resigning from office as required by law.
The House mandated the Committee on Legislative Library, Research and Documentation to investigate the matter and report back within one week.
Also, the House urged government offices to stop rejecting National Youth Service Corps, N.Y.S.C. members, following a motion by Rodney Ebikebina Ambaiowei, who described the scheme as a key instrument for national unity and development.
Meanwhile, six members defected to the Allied People's Movement, APM; Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, and the Social Democratic Party, SDP.
